Program Director and Head Coach

Mike Pickett

Mike began coaching softball his junior year of high school. He coached his sister’s 12 and under P.A.L. softball team as an assistant to his mother. He has coached some form of softball or baseball ever since, which puts him at 40 years of experience. He has coached summer club softball at various levels as well as baseball. His love of the game is immense and he still plays competitive baseball at the age of 58. Two years ago, when asked to take over the softball program, Mike was hesitant at first, but after some soul searching jumped at the chance to influence some wonderful student athletes. He loves the spiritual side as well as the competitive side and hopes the girls are learning to be wonderful young ladies as well as knowledgable softball players.

Joe Garmatz

Joe Garmatz joins the Eagles softball program this fall after serving as head coach at Denver Lutheran for the last 12 years. He has also coached at the club/travel team level for nearly 20 years.  While at Denver Lutheran he had a 123-92 record and his 2003 team made the Final Four in the State Tournament.  His 2010 team was a CHSAA All-State Academic team. He was the Metro League Softball Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2010 and was the Metro Leagues Coach of the Year for Girls Sports in 2010-11.
