Faith vs Kent Denver

May 17th

Thursday evening Faith hosted Kent Denver in the quarterfinals. The game started with several fast moving plays.  Ali Pott scored 2 minutes into the game with a long kick that skimmed the top of the net.  Arianna Brennan and Caroline Jenkins attempted some beautiful shots, but were unsuccessful against the Kent goalie. Even with strong momentum, Faith was unable to put another goal in before half.

During the second half, Kent came out strong moving the ball down the field with a few breakaways.  At one point, Brittany Halcomb used her body to stop a free kick by Kent Denver, Brittany kept playing even after having the breath knocked out of her. Thanks Brit for taking one for the team!

The second goal by Faith came from a crossing pass by Brittany Halcomb headed in by Mara Magnuson. Kent continued to put pressure on the Faith girls, but endurance, stamina, and heart won out with another shut out victory 2-0.

Faith is now headed to All City Stadium for the semi-finals!

Faith will play Peak to Peak on Sat. May 19, 2012 at 12:30.  Faith beat Peak to Peak earlier in the season 1-0.

Faith vs Roaring Fork

Sweet 16 playoffs

May 12th

The rain held off for the second round of the playoffs with Faith hosting Roaring Fork this past Saturday.  The game started off tentatively with several failed attempts on goal. With 7 minutes left in the first half, Arianna Brennan put the first goal in with a nice long shot from the left side followed by Caroline Jenkins with the second goal.

Faith attempted several shots the second half only to be stopped by the Roaring Fork goalie Madison Handy.

The defensive line including Sawyer Scheufele, Payton Scrivner, Madison Batug, Anna Fisher, Suzi Kawakami and Carli Dais aided by the midfielders added another shut-out to their stats bringing their total to 10 games.

A special shout out goes to Garret Pott and Mr. Batug for shagging balls during the games. Thank you from the parents and players!!!

Faith vs Pinnacle

May 9th

Wednesday was a beautiful day to start the playoffs with a home field advantage against Pinnacle (#31).  Most of the game was played on the Faith end of the field and by half time the Eagles were up by 7.  Congratulations to Caroline Jenkins who earned a hat trick prior to the ending of the first half.

Early during the second half, Brittany Halcomb earned her hat trick.  The goal count for the rest of the team was Ali Pott 2, Cori Pellish 1 and Arianna Brennan 1. The game ended in the Mercy Rule call with 14 minutes left to play. The total goal count for the team is now 77 for the season.

Thank you to Pinnacle players who joined us in prayer to honor our Lord at the end of the game.

Faith will host the second round of the playoffs against Roaring Fork (#18) Saturday at 1:00p.m.

Faith vs Machebeuf

May 6th

The Faith girls’ soccer team ended their regular season with a 12-2-1 record. The girls have grown together during the season and are poised for a strong showing in the playoffs.  The two losses were to Holy Family (currently ranked #1) and Evergreen (4a). After two 5 minute overtime periods the girls soccer team tied Colorado Academy.

The team has suffered a few injuries this season, but Coach Amber Jenkins has been blessed with a talented and deep bench.

The girls’ target this season was to score 5 more goals than last season’s 87 (including the playoff games); so far the team has scored 67. Caroline Jenkins and Brittany Halcomb lead the team with 14 goals each. Ali Pott follows with 12, Cori Pellish 8, Madison Batug and Mara Magnuson 4, Arianna Brennan 3, Sawyer Schuefele 2, Mackenzie Novak 2, and Alyssa Bartusek and Natalie Salvato have 1 goal each. Goalies Payton Scrivner and Aubri Swan have only allowed 7 goals all season.

A special highlight of the season was senior night when Stephanie Graham sang the National Anthem a capella.

With a ranking of #2 in the state, FCA girls playoffs start this Wednesday, May 9th with a home field advantage against Pinnacle at 5:00pm.
