FAITH CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Marc Banister ::: BAND
Marc Banister is the Band and Jazz Band director and a 12th grade Bible teacher at Faith Christian High School. He has 16 total years of experience, with 12 of these years at Faith Christian. Marc obtained a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University. After college, he became the youth pastor at Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Denver, graduating from their school of ministry. He loves directing the band program because he wants to help students develop their musicianship and skill with their instruments, while learning to develop a sound that is greater than the sum of its parts. He wants to instill in the students a desire to pursue a future in music, at their church or in college, as well as provide a desirable listening experience for any audience. His personal favorite genre of music is big band and swing music. Marc met his wife in college and they have been married for 24 years. They have two children, one has graduated from Faith Christian and the other is a current student. In addition to his band responsibilities, Marc teaches Bible and is an assistant football coach.
Bill Welsh ::: CHOIR
Bill Welsh directs all of the choirs at Faith Christian High School as well as the music for FCA drama productions. He brings 37 years of teaching experience, nine of them being at Faith Christian High School. Bill is originally from Washington State and obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Central Washington University. His first job was teaching music in a secular high school for three years. From there, he literally expanded his horizons by directing choirs for Up with People, an international musical and educational organization. For 25 years he served as a Music Director, directing musical shows in over 20 countries around the world, including Russia and the People’s Republic of China. On top of this incredible experience, he has also arranged and conducted music for two Super Bowl half-time shows and has worked with and arranged music for a number of orchestras throughout the United States, including the Boston and Philadelphia Pops. Bill is clearly very passionate about music and loves teaching students the importance and beauty of music in their lives, and that music education lasts a lifetime. He wishes for his students to love performing great music, he wants to be proud of what Faith is doing through music, and he wants to help those of his students who want music as a career to find a successful path. His underlying motivation originates from a belief that God loves to hear His children sing to Him, therefore glorifying God through song is his ultimate desire. Bill and his wife, Robin, have two grown children. Their daughter, Lindsey, is a graduate of Colorado State University and teaches English at Loveland High School; their son, David, is the lead guitar player for The Fray. One of Bill’s most favorite activities is teaching songs in other languages, especially Latin.
