Operation Christmas Child

Each November, our fifth grade students join Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child’s efforts to bless children around the world. A flyer is sent home to elementary families, requesting that they prepare a shoebox containing items such as school supplies, toys, gum, jewelry, activity books, etc.

The boxes are collected in classrooms, and then brought to a special Elementary Chapel. There the students are reminded of the needs of other children.  The children and staff pray over the colorfully decorated boxes.  Afterward, our fifth graders complete the preparation process. This year grades K through 5 prepared 531 boxes to be sent to children who may not otherwise receive anything for Christmas. This is an amazing experience, as our students and families go beyond themselves for the sake of others.

Grandparent's Day 2011

Once again our Elementary students worked very hard to prepare a program, a tribute for their grandparents and adopted grandparents. Each grade level, K – 5, prepared something special to honor them.

At the program’s conclusion, our hallways were bursting at the seams as 698 guests attended. Many of these smiling folk said that this year’s event was the best one ever!

Kindergarten Safari

Indoor safari in Arvada? Absolutely! Each year at the FCA Elementary, kindergarten students go on an exciting indoor “Safari”- through the elementary campus. Stops along the way include the Library, Cafeteria and Elementary Office. This fun trek takes place during the first week of school and helps our young students become aware of, and comfortable with, their new surroundings.

Phoenix Gold Mine Field Trip

Third grade students, parents, and teachers enjoyed a beautiful Colorado day in the mountain town of Idaho Springs at the Phoenix Gold Mine. As the students are into their ‘Rocks & Minerals’ Unit, they got first-hand knowledge of the formations and layers in an actual mine. Boys and girls also tried to pan for gold in Clear Creek. Families always look forward to this exciting field trip.  This year the students had a ‘blast’!

ES Open House

The annual ES Open House is always an informative evening. Parents are invited to see a ‘snapshot’ of life in their child’s classroom. This is also another opportunity for parents to become better acquainted with their student's teacher. Moms and dads also got to see samples of current schoolwork. Families left with smiles all around!
