Faith Christian Eagles Boys Basketball Coaches Corner Andrew Hasz - Head Coach and Program Director Coach Andrew Hasz has been coaching basketball at Faith Christian HS for the past 14 years and has been the head varsity men’ s coach for the last 11 years. The mission statement for the program comes from I Corinthians 10:31 which simply states, “ Whatever you do … do it all for the glory of God.” God has blessed the boy’s team with great success in the past decade with 9 trips to the Great 8 in the state basketball tournament and 4 state championships in 2002, 2008, 2009, and 2010.Brian Wall - Varsity Assistant Coach Coach Brian Wall has been coaching Faith basketball since 1986. He started in the boys program, was the head coach when Andrew Hasz graduated, and continued coaching the boys into the early 1990’s. Then he took over the girl’s program, and under his leadership, they became a perennial state tournament team and won the state championship in 2000. After taking a couple years off from coaching, he joined the boy’s staff as an assistant in 2007 and was a key part in the 3-peat state championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010.Steve Coon - Varsity Assistant Coach Coach Steve Coon has been very influential in the growth of the basketball program at Faith Christian. He has been involved in different ways since 1999. He helped give vision and grow the developmental portion of the program that stretches down to our elementary students. He has been an assistant coach for a number of years, including the first state championship year of 2001-02. He has provided great leadership and direction to the athletic department at Faith Christian and currently serves as the assistant athletic director as well as an assistant coach in the basketball program.Christopher Havekost - Varsity Assistant Coach Coach Christopher Havekost joins the Faith Christian boy’s basketball program this 2009 season as the Head JV coach. This season will mark his eighth year with his first seven as the head JV and Varsity assistant at Parker Lutheran High School in Parker, Colorado. He enjoys coaching the JV level and is very skilled at teaching the game to help develop future Varsity players. At 6’7” he is also very good at helping “the big men” be as powerful as they can be in the paint. Bringing a love for the game and a love for mentoring kids, he will be a great addition to the Faith Christian coaching staff.Micah Twedell - Head JV Coach Micah is 20 years old and a recent graduate of Faith Christian. He is currently a sophomore at Metro State College and is pursuing a degree in secondary education. Micah’s convictions about how sports should be played were largely influenced by his upbringing in a Christian family and community. One verse that was often on his mind while competing in sports was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me.” This is a verse that Micah hopes to incorporate into all of his team’s practices and games. During the high school years, Micah’s coaches had an impact on his life both athletically and spiritually as he participated in football and basketball at Faith. The idea of his performance on the athletic field as an opportunity to personally worship God was embedded in his mind. Steve Twedell - Head C Team Coach Coach Steve Twedell has been a part of Faith basketball for the past 10 years and has coached basketball for more years than he would like to have recorded. He has been very influential in bringing a running and pressing style of play to the Faith program and is an incredible teacher of the game. Countless players that have had success at Faith learned their fundamentals from Coach Twedell. He has coached at the C, JV, and assistant varsity (both boys and girls) levels over the years and is an invaluable asset to the staff. |
