Faith Takes Bite Out Of Bulldogs
Faith Christian scored in every at bat, in trouncing University 10-0, in a game shortened to six innings by the mercy rule. The Eagles scored once in each of the first four innings, and then put the game on ice with a fourspot in the fifth. Faith hitters pounded out twelve hits, led by Tyler Deven’s three, and Tyler Tucker and Emilio Carbajal’s two apiece. Carbajal and Josh Mihalcin both had two runs batted in. Tyler Tucker threw the complete game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out eight Bulldog hitters. The win is Tyler’s third of the season. April 6, 2013 Faith Races By Pumas in Doubleheader Sweep
Faith Christian defeated the third ranked Peak to Peak Pumas 11-1, and 5-1, Saturday, to take over undisputed first place in the Metro League. The first game was never in doubt, as the Eagles scored all eleven runs in the first three innings. The second game took a three run rally in the top of the fourth, to start Faith on its way to the sweep. In the opener, Ian Loffert hit his first home run of the season and had two hits in leading the way at the plate. Tyler Tucker chipped in a double and a triple. Tucker also mowed down the Pumas on two hits, while striking out four, for his second win of the year. In the second game, Luke Bote, Tyler Deven, and Steve Galambos each had two hits in pacing the Eagles to victory. Ian Loffert picked up his second win of the young campaign, by combining with Tyler Deven to shut down the Peak to Peak attack. Faith moves to 5-0 in Metro play and 5-1 on the 2013 season. After spotting Parker Lutheran a first inning two run lead, the Eagles stormed back with a seven run fourth inning, and a five run sixth to defeat the Lions 13-4. Faith Christian garnered fourteen hits in the contest, led by Steven Galambos and Luke Bote each having three singles. Nine different players were able to add to the hit machine. Cade Benson, Tyler Deven, and Tyler Tucker struck out nine Lutheran hitters on the day. Faith advances to 3-0 in Metro play and 3-1 on the season. Ian Loffert and Mochal combined for the shutout allowing only four singles. They struck out five Academy hitters and walked none. Faith is now 2-0 in Metro play and 2-1 for the season. The Eagles were only able to muster 4 hits for the second straight game. All were singles, with Steven Galambos garnering two, and Tyler Deven and Kody VonHoldt one each. Faith pitchers Spencer Mochal, Cameron Rickey and Cade Benson struck out nine Thunderhawk hitters, but also issued nine free passes. They gave up five hits, and hit one batter. March 20, 2013 Faith Edges Machebeuf in Extra Innings
Faith Christian had to work overtime to defeat Bishop Machebeuf in eight innings 1-0. Ian Loffert and Tyler Tucker combined to shutout Machebeuf on only three hits. Machebeuf had the bases loaded with only one out in the bottom of the seventh when Tucker worked out of the jam by fielding an attempted squeeze bunt and throwing the runner out at home. Loffert had eight strikeouts in five innings, and Tucker struck out five Buff hitters in his three innings of work. Spencer Mochal scored the winning run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Tucker. Mochal had started the inning with a single to centerfield. Faith Christian hitters woke up after a long spring break layoff, producing 13 runs on 10 hits in only four at bats. The Eagles cruised to a 13-0 league victory by scoring six runs in the second inning, and six more in the third. Tyler Deven led the hit parade with three singles, and Spencer Mochal had two hits.
